Laurel Hogg is a Senior Lawyer at Heinrichs Richards LLP. She is an experienced litigator with a robust background in commercial litigation and a practice focused primarily on family law. She provides advice and representation on the broad range of legal issues that can arise during separation and divorce.
Laurel’s particular expertise includes handling complex high-net-worth asset division, including the complicating factors of corporate structures, multiple income streams, and other vehicles for holding and passing family property and assets. Laurel leverages her background representing clients in commercial and intellectual property disputes in sectors including technology, finance, and pharmaceutical industries to quickly decipher the key issues and opportunities in disputes involving the division of assets. Her facility with corporate and commercial structures and knowledge of how they operate instill confidence in her clients.
Laurel takes a practical, client-centred approach to her litigation practice. She is committed to recognizing when negotiating will produce a result that is more beneficial to her client than litigation. She is a skilled advocate with deep knowledge of the law of evidence, practice and procedure in family court. Her ability to effectively advance her clients’ positions while remaining calm and alive to opportunities for settlement makes her effective in whatever venue her clients find themselves.
Laurel has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario and British Columbia, as well as the Federal Court of Canada. She is a familiar face in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, where she routinely represents clients.
Before joining our team, Laurel gained valuable experience at a leading litigation boutique and a national law firm in Toronto. Her most recent role was as a partner at a respected commercial and family law litigation firm in Kelowna.
Laurel is committed to using her legal skills to give back to the legal profession and her community. She has contributed materials to the BC Continuing Legal Education Society and has maintained a seat on various boards of governance and councils over the years.
